I make time to arrive early so that I can become part of the day really early on. It means two things-

✨Creatively I’ve started your story early and you will receive a snapshot of all the small moments that lead up to your walk down the aisle.

✨It also means by the time it gets to the intimate portraits- you’re over the whole nervous bit and I’m like a piece of the furniture that you are comfortable with.

It takes months of planning to get everything right, there's so much to arrange. People to contact, book, confirm, etc. So many moving parts. ⁠

Then all of a sudden it's here. All that planning has paid off. ⁠I love that moment after the vows are done, the group shots are over and it's just the two of them. That's where the magic is. ⁠

I have been feeling like I've been planning my 'big day' for a while now, I am ready for all this planning to pay off. ⁠

✨Making the move from film to digital was a quick and ‘easy’ choice. It was needed, and people just stopped focusing on film and the quality it gave.
⭐️It was all about an instant generation⭐️

Clean lines- sharpening and focusing.
It was all about reciting that moment “perfectly” which pushed photographers to shift their game.

I always kept my film camera. Not all of them, and now I’m buying them back. A roll of film in my pocket- shooting intentionally on film; capturing mini stories on the side for each couple. ✨

I always wanted to do everything epically. Ask my sister. No half measures, no small steps.

But I got burnt out. I kept going and kept delivering, but inside I was just about holding it together.

I kept smiling with a few cracks showing and then had to stop for a moment and reevaluate.
I was tired. Shooting all the time and never seeing my kids.

So I took a moment and shifted my mindset.
Now I’m shooting when I want to, making sure I have time for me and my family and helping other photographers with setting up new packages, teaching, creating my Film course and planning retreats and content days.

It’s a shift, and it’s a lot, but it’s the right way for me.

Nothing wrong with pivoting. Nothing wrong with a change. Especially when it’s to help others in their venture towards a rewarding wedding photography career.
