So, my sister asked me if I’d shoot the wedding of her good friend Jana in Holland and of course I said yes! This Brighton wedding photographer travelled to Amsterdam the night before and my sister and I woke early to travel to Kampen, just over an hour North East of Amsterdam to Jana’s home where her and her family were scurrying around in the early morning light getting Jana ready for her day.
Jana was emotional as she met her husband to be, Fabien, at the bottom of the stairs, where he was waiting to hand her the bouquet in front of all their guests. Her eyes filled with tears as she met him, and I found it hard to contain myself too. (Im never ready for an emotional moment, always open to be moved… I’m a soppy romantic!)
We travelled to the registry office all together with her guests for an intimate ceremony. There something quite special about everyone travelling together as a group. No surprises, but a lot of emotion.
After the ceremony I walked with Jana and Fabien in the rain with Fabien’s sister as my “umbrella assistant” (see image of her below!) and the rain just didn’t matter to Jana, warm with love for her man.
The day ended at a beautiful hotel where we arrived for a brunch after their early ceremony. A large tasty buffet was enjoyed slowly by all their guests who sat at a big banquet table; a perfect and simple cake was cut to end the morning.
I’m told they went on to a casino (no photographs allowed)…
Jana and Fabien. You seriously reduced me to tears on the day and when I was developing your images… You are a heartwarming couple and I’m sending you a lot of love…x
