Brighton wedding photographer: Lara and Stewart

November 13, 2011

A little while ago Lara asked me to shoot hers and Stewart’s wedding this year. She kept everything under wraps for a  long time, not giving anything away about her dress, (designed by Lara, made by her mum) and organising all the little things herself, even down to creating her own confetti.

When I arrived at Lara’s house in the early hours, Emma was pinning Lara’s hair and in the kitchen, Champagne and bacon sandwiches were being made by the two bridesmaids. (What a perfect combination!).

Lara was calm and yet, excited. Finally her day was here. Definitely an alternative bride, Lara’s dress was red and black with a tiny corseted waist and the theme of the wedding was Halloween/ “Corpse bride.”  Topped off with a mini top hat fascinator with a black veil, she slowly got ready to meet her husband-to-be.

Lara and Stewart were married at Horsham Registry office, the ceremony intimate, and it was very emotional for all her friends, including their Brighton wedding photographer. Their children, Jack and Poppy looked on as Mummy and Daddy finally tied the knot.

After a walk in the park we all travelled back to Brighton to the “King and Queen” pub; beer and wine flowing in a Halloween themed room including an amazing “Corpse bride” topper for the wedding cake.

Lara- you’re a big softie. Stewart- you loved it, I know you did. What’s really apparent is that you truly love each other. It’s plain to see and being there to celebrate your day was wonderful and a pleasure for me to shoot. x
