Shooting a beautiful elopement wedding in Amsterdam was a delight, especially as my sister lives there. Phil and Sarah were married in the beautiful Begijnhof. The Begijnhof chapel features a series of panels telling the story of the Miracle of Amsterdam…Perfect! The chapel is intimate and romantic which just magnified their connection even more. They then gathered outside to go on a beautiful sunny boat ride with close friends and family and a stunning intimate reception with lots of beer flowing alongside some very emotional speeches. Sarah wore daisies in her hair with a beautiful boho style wedding dress and Phil looking dapper as ever; we took a lovely stroll by the river both of them so natural. What more could you want?! The backdrop of Amsterdam is urban cool but also traditional which I love.
People are really struggling at the moment with deciding whether to get married traditionally, have an elopement abroad, have a blessing or cancel everything until things get better but we just don’t know. You have to go with your instinct and if its right for you to marry now either at home or as a destination wedding, get booking now even for as far as 2022/23. People plans are shifting all the time.
It’s worth asking photographers and videographers for their advice. Every photographer I know will be forgiving and supportive of your plans and will do their best to accommodate your decision.
Amsterdam rocks for weddings, its one of my favourite places – Check in with me about when I may be there to shoot your wedding.
